The words “self love” are becoming ubiquitous in today’s vernacular but it is a concept that is difficult to conceptualize or even explain in less than ten words. In fact, it is somewhat amorphous.
Ironically, despite its mystical and almost perplexing essence, it is the single most important phenomenon that exists in the universe.
In fact, I am going to dare to say that true healing from the most pervasive global pain, suffering and abuse in all of human history can only derive from self love, which serves to be the foundation of all other love that flows from its source infinitely, incapable of cessation …
Love is the most compelling and omnipotent energy that exists and is capable of destroying all evil by dismantling the illusion of fear that hate binds itself to. This sounds plausible and almost trite to ponder that all of the defects in humanity could be cured by just adding love to the equation and eroding fear, but it really is that simple.
The reason why it is so difficult to manifest is because humans have no idea what self love is or how to achieve it. There is no rule book, formulaic calculation, YouTube tutorial, or Wikipedia instructions to answer the question of what the hell this elusive concept of self love is.
It requires each individual person to find out what it means to love himself or herself by having awareness that the choice is hers and not based on the opinions, beliefs or judgment of anyone else. Self love cannot be delegated and extracted from external sources outside of the self. While the beauty in nature and in our relationships can certainly make our lives more pleasurable, in the absence of organically produced self love, such externalities will only remain in tact for so long before the bubble is burst.
This is a concept that is not able to be fully experienced by most humans, simply because the thoughts that control the majority of all human behavior do not innately belong to the human himself. Conversely, in most cases he is a prisoner of false ideologies imposed by entities who may not have his best interest at heart.
Where was the class in self love?
Most humans are robots or slaves to something outside of themselves because they are operating and existing beneath the veil of consciousness. Thus, most cannot experience true love because they are disconnected with their true emotions, identities, thoughts, and even awareness of what love is and that it is necessary to nurture from within.
Where was the course in school on this topic? I believe a class on how to love the self is necessary so that this topic can be placed into the collective consciousness of the universe and properly taught to people currently struggling on this planet. The start would be to teach people how to feel their raw, authentic emotions, thus being vulnerable to feeling possible pain, rejection or a complete and utter destruction of the heart.
It is only by feeling real pain, one of the deepest and most intense human emotions, that we can truly experience and understand love in its truest and purest sense of being infinite and unconditional.
If humans are strong enough to endure a painful experience and grow from it by drawing strength from within themselves, they will become more confident, aware of themselves and others and have a greater understanding for mankind and the intricate functioning of the human heart and mind.
If people would think less about the illusion that fear of outcome represents and remain true to their innate, natural emotions, they would experience unconditional love. Unconditional love means forgiveness of self and therefore, forgiveness of all other humans who have acted imperfectly and hurt us so deeply.
Self love is a journey into the soul
In my experiences in this lifetime, after the most painful events that demolished my heart and left me crippled with self doubt and an abomination of my soul, I was forced to seek solace from inside myself.
When I stopped picking up the phone, googling answers, making appointments with my therapists and drinking to oblivion to numb the pain, I saw the light.
So to me, self love means to embrace oneself fully in thought and emotion. To walk outside in nature, connected to the universe, with focus on the beautiful elements that we are gifted with and to express gratitude for their existence.
It means to write in my journal or even speak out loud to myself and answer my own questions. This allows me to pay attention to my inner voice and correct it if the words are harsh and hateful. Self love means ultimately to forgive oneself and to treat our precious souls with the same kindness, respect, tenderness and love that anyone else would receive.
Once I was able to forgive myself for previous mistakes and realize that a mistake only made me stronger and wiser, I had a whole new outlook on myself and life.
Self love is self acceptance
So I am thankful for the experience of pain and consequence, struggle and challenge. The void of such intense feelings or the suppression of them by the use of drugs or alcohol or other distractions creates a disconnect between the human and the soul.
The deepest and darkest pain forces humans to truly feel that pain due to its intensity and that creates a deeper connection to self. Thus, self love is produced organically as the relationship to self is established.
Once we learn to nurture and forgive ourselves the way we do to our friends and family, we have practiced the beautiful art of self love that continues to blossom exquisitely and infinitely as eternal source to guide our lives and shine on others who are still in darkness.
In love and light we will find the truth, peace and an inner sanctuary. Once we reach that point of enlightenment, nothing else is needed nor searched for.
